I have just been looking at some research on technology used by young people around the world and I couldn’t help thinking that new technology is a fantastic thing – if you can afford it!

This research by Yahoo stated that 88% of teenagers in Australia owned their own PC, 92% had their own mobile phone and 61% had their own video game console. But who was it that Yahoo interviewed – teenagers with access to technology. What about the ones that could not afford a PC and internet access to answer the poll – what about the kids in developing countries who do not even have electricity to run this new technology…?

When young people join the workforce will there be two types of employees – those that are comfortable with technology and those that don’t know where to start?

Here is a great tip from a clip I have just seen on Teacher Tube

“Class you have 10 minutes to receive a text message from anyone outside of this school .. telling you what they had for breakfast!”

Once they have received the texts you can put the data into a table, graph it, discuss statistics etc … wouldn’t that be a lesson that the class would remember!
